The Story Behind the Sessions
About Sessions on the Green
It started with a mood.
A few voices. A few shadows. Late nights. Loose plans. Instruments within reach.
We’re not a band, not exactly. We’re a collective. A sound. A feeling.
Each Session brings new stories, new souls. Some stay. Some pass through. But the heart — the heart stays the same.
The music feels live, but the moment is forever.

The Collective and the Flame
What is Sessions on the Green?
A music collective, yes. But more than that — it’s a feeling.
Built around a rotating cast of voices and moods, Sessions brings together artists whose paths might never cross — except here. A soft ache, a midnight groove, a fleeting harmony. Each track is a postcard from a different soul. Some names stay, some fade. But the sound? The sound remains.
It came from a feeling — not a place.
The name echoes the warmth of open-air nights, musicians gathered under trees or stars, no rules, just rhythm. Maybe there was once a lawn, maybe not. But there was music. And that was enough. Still, somewhere in the roots…a summer evening near Perth, Sandalford Winery — Lionel Ritchie, Marcia Hines, and a vineyard breeze. Music under skies wide as memory. It stayed. A moment folded into melody. Now, each session plays in its echo.
The Collective
The core? A quiet constellation of players — voices like Bonny Wilde and Marcus ‘Mack’ Chappelle, the midnight sax of Lucius ‘BlueNote’ Carter, the velvet baritone of Isaac B. Cole, the wandering fire of Shira Tal. Each with their own shadow. Each with their own song. Other voices come as the music calls for them. That’s the beauty of it. Nothing’s fixed. Only felt.
🎧 Our Sound or What You’ll Hear
Sessions on the Green blends R&B, soul, jazz and cinematic chill into a sound that’s as smooth as it is stirring. Rooted in timeless influences — from Sade to Simply Red, Santana to Sarah McLachlan — it favours melody over noise, intimacy over spectacle.
Vocals take centre stage, rich with emotion and clarity, backed by elegant instrumentation: warm basslines, soft horns, subtle keys, and the occasional brush of strings or Latin rhythm. These are songs for twilight hours — reflective, romantic, and mood-driven. At its core, Sessions on the Green is about feeling: music to sit with, not scroll past.
Behind the Glass
The sessions are shaped, scored, and stirred by the man in the shadows: Henri-Philippe Marchand. Composer. Instigator. You won’t find him on stage, but you’ll hear him in every silence.
And in the corner of the studio, candle burning low… Peter Pickering. Producer. Lyricist. Imagineer. Keeper of the flame.
