The Voices We Forgot is a wordless soul-jazz journey in which breath, rhythm and saxophone carry everything that conventional lyrics might otherwise say. A distant, mature male voice emerges not as a lead singer but as another instrument: low, earthy and intimate, answering and surrounding the expressive tenor saxophone in gradually widening layers.

The piece begins in spacious mystery, with the saxophone searching almost alone before electric bass, hand percussion and warm Rhodes establish a gently polyrhythmic pulse. Human voices enter cautiously through simple wordless sounds, developing into calls and responses as the arrangement gathers momentum. Atmospheric pads and tape warmth give the performance depth without obscuring its organic character. At its rhythmic peak, layered voices and percussion provide an expansive foundation while the tenor saxophone remains unmistakably at the foreground, before the music strips itself back again.

The accompanying Borobudur imagery extends that sense of memory, stone and enduring human expression, allowing an ancient setting to converse visually with the wordless voices and contemporary soul-jazz sound.
