Every now and then I revisit an earlier Sessions on the Green track and remember why it was written.
This morning it was “Echoes of a Man” — Isaac B. Cole.
It’s a song about legacy, doubt, love, and what remains when the noise fades.
Sharing the lyrics here — not as promotion, but as reflection.
......
Why am I here, what’s the reason I breathe
Is there a truth I was born to believe
The years roll on, the shadows remain
Joy and regret, they carry my name
When the silence calls my name
What will remain
Will they remember the love I gave
Or just the battles I could not save
What have I done with the days I was given
Some were of fire, some unforgiven
Did I chase meaning, or waste my youth
Was I a seeker, or blind to the truth
When the silence calls my name
What will remain
Will they remember the love I gave
Or just the battles I could not save
Will I be known for the songs I made
Or for the promises I betrayed
Will I be measured by the love I gave
Or by the silence I carried away
When the silence calls my name
What will remain
Not the riches I held, but the hearts I touched
Not the trophies of gold, but the lives I brushed
When the night remembers me
I hope it will say
Here was a soul who tried
Here was a man who stayed
Echoes of a man
Echoes of a life
— Peter, Sessions on the Green
