In the early 1970s, the owners of a recording studio in Los Angeles were considering getting rid of an old upright piano.
It wasn’t especially beautiful.
It wasn’t particularly valuable.
In fact, it was so worn that many people thought it had reached the end of its life.
Fortunately, someone decided to keep it.
That piano became known as the “Golden Oldie” and went on to appear on hundreds of hit recordings. Its warm, slightly worn sound can be heard on classic records by artists including Carole King, Neil Young, Elton John, Jackson Browne, and many others.
What some people saw as an old piano ready for retirement turned out to be one of the most recorded instruments in modern music.
Sometimes perfection isn’t found in something brand new.
Sometimes it’s hidden inside the character that only time can create.
🎵 Question:
If you could own one famous musical instrument from history, which would you choose—and why?
