If you’ve already listened to Clouds Over Isaan, you may be surprised to learn how the song came into being.

Some songs arrive after months of planning.

Others appear unexpectedly.

This one began with nothing more than an ordinary drive through the countryside of Isaan. The destination was unimportant. The sky was not.

Towering cloud formations stretched across the horizon, changing shape from moment to moment. Some resembled distant mountains. Others looked like islands floating in a sea of blue. Every few minutes the landscape above seemed to reinvent itself.

It was a reminder that extraordinary things often happen in the most ordinary places.

As the song developed, it became clear that it wasn’t really about clouds at all.

It became a reflection on paying attention.

On noticing the small wonders that surround us every day.

On taking a moment to look up.

Many of the images featured in the video are inspired by places photographed throughout Isaan over many years. Some remain unchanged. Others have evolved. A few have disappeared altogether. What remains are the memories they left behind.

Perhaps that is why this simple song has proven unexpectedly emotional.

The clouds are always changing.

And so are we.

Thank you for taking the journey with us.
