A year ago, Sessions on the Green® quietly released its very first piece of music.

There was no grand launch, no marketing campaign, no expectation that it would become anything more than a personal creative journey—one song at a time.

Today marks the end of that first year.

Looking back, what amazes me most isn’t how many songs we’ve created. It isn’t how many videos we’ve produced. It isn’t even how many millions of times our music has appeared before listeners around the world.

It’s something much simpler.

People listened.

Not for thirty seconds.

Not because a song happened to be fashionable.

They listened because something in the music spoke to them.

Over the past twelve months we’ve received messages and comments from listeners in Australia, Algeria, Serbia, Israel, Russia, Thailand, France, Italy, Spain, Sweden, Norway, Germany, the United Kingdom, Ireland, the United States, Canada, Brazil, Argentina, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, the Netherlands, Belgium, Greece, Turkey, South Africa, India, the Philippines, Indonesia, Japan… and many many other countries that, if I’m honest, I never imagined would discover our little corner of YouTube.

Many write in English.

Many don’t.

Some comments arrive in French.

Others in Italian.

Spanish.

Russian.

Portuguese.

Thai.

German.

Sometimes I have to translate them before I can even read them.

Yet perhaps the greatest surprise has been discovering that language isn’t nearly as important as I once thought.

We’ve released songs in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Ukrainian and Thai.

Again and again, people tell us they don’t understand the words.

Yet somehow…

they still understand the feeling.

That has been one of the most profound lessons of this first year.

Music really does speak a language of its own.

Every day I read comments that stay with me long after I’ve closed the computer.

People tell us they cried.

That a song reminded them of someone they lost years ago.

That it brought back memories of a first love.

Or the end of one.

Some tell us they listened while sitting beside the bed of someone they love.

Others say our music helped them through loneliness, grief, anxiety or simply the exhaustion of another difficult day.

Some write only a single word.

“Beautiful.”

"WOW!"

"Amazing."

Some leave nothing but a row of hearts.

Even those tiny gestures tell us something.

They tell us the music arrived.

One thing that has delighted me is the love people have shown our instrumental artists.

Daniel Armand’s lyrical flugelhorn.

Lucius Bluenote Carter’s rich, soulful saxophone.

Henri-Philippe Marchand's elegant concert grand piano.

Elena Mireille's deeply expressive cello.

Chico Valiente's fiery Latin-inspired guitar.

Ash Chastain's powerful cinematic rock guitar.

Without singing a single word, they somehow tell complete stories.

Listeners don’t hear “just an instrument.”

They hear longing.

Hope.

Comfort.

Joy.

Reflection.

And that continues to astonish me.

When we began this journey, I hoped we might create music that people enjoyed.

I never imagined we’d create music that people would carry with them.

That’s a very different thing.

Have we found a recognisable Sessions on the Green® style?

I’m honestly too close to answer that question.

Perhaps only listeners can decide.

What I do know is that we’ve tried to create every release with the same care, the same respect for our audience, and the same belief that music doesn’t have to shout to be heard.

If there’s one thing we’ve learned this year, it’s that authenticity still matters.

Stories still matter.

Beauty still matters.

Kindness still matters.

And there are millions of people around the world who are still willing to stop for four or five minutes simply to listen.

For that…

I am deeply grateful.

Not because we’ve completed a year.

But because you’ve chosen to spend part of that year with us.

From all of us at Sessions on the Green®—thank you.

Tomorrow we’ll do what we’ve done every day for the past twelve months.

We’ll go back into the studio…

…and try to make the next song even better.

Year Two begins today.
