Our Little Hive

I was thinking about a beehive today.

It begins with almost nothing. Then, cell by perfect cell, it grows. Each new cell becomes part of something larger, something that nourishes and shelters the colony.

And the bees keep returning.

They know their hive. They belong there.

It occurred to me that Sessions on the Green® has grown in much the same way.

One song at a time. One melody, one arrangement, one small addition to something that gradually becomes much greater than the sum of its parts.

But a hive is more than its structure. It’s the life within it that gives it meaning.

And that’s where you come in.

Some of you have been with us almost from the beginning. Others have only recently discovered us. Some visit every day, while others return whenever a particular melody calls them back.

Every one of you is part of what we’ve built.

We never set out to create the biggest hive in the forest. We simply wanted to make something beautiful, something worth returning to.

And you keep coming back.

That’s a rather wonderful feeling.

Thank you for being part of our little hive.
