Some songs arrive in a rush, fully formed. Others take their time, waiting for the right moment, the right people, the right voice. Silk and Secrets belongs to that second kind.
It was one of the very first pieces ever written for Sessions on the Green. The bones of it were there early on — the mood, the words, the longing woven into it. But something was missing. We worked on it, tried to shape it, but it never quite felt ready. It didn’t yet have the voice that could carry its depth. So, we tucked it away and left it in the vault.
For a long time it sat there, quietly, waiting.
Then, not so long ago, Gabriel Lennox joined our circle. From the moment he sang a few lines, we knew: this is the voice the song has been waiting for. His delivery, sensitive and gentle, gave life to the words in a way no one else could. We revisited the track, remastered it, polished the edges, added more finesse and more heart. Slowly but surely, the song became whole.
That’s how Silk and Secrets finally came into the light.
But the story didn’t end there. On the very day we were finalising Gabriel’s version, Darius Lamar Brown dropped in. He listened, paused, and then said something that changed everything: “This song has another side. Let’s explore it.”
So we did. Working with Henri-Philippe Marchand, Gabriel, and Darius, we created a sister track — a reimagined version with a slightly different arrangement, a different flow, a new feel. We called it Silken Secrets. The lyrics are almost the same, the heart is the same, but the interpretation is fresh and powerful in its own way.
Both versions move us deeply. We won’t release anything unless it moves us — unless we truly love it. And with these two, we knew from the start: they belong in the world.
Right now, Silken Secrets is available to our Listener’s Lounge members. In just a few days, it will be released to everyone. When you hear it, you’ll understand why we cherish both. Together, they tell two sides of the same truth — like reflections in a mirror, each beautiful in its own way.
Sometimes, music takes its time. Sometimes, it waits for the right moment to be born. And when it finally comes, it feels like it was always meant to be.
